Tier IV, a deep-tech startup based in Japan, is the creator of Autoware, the world's first open-source software for autonomous driving, and provides full-stack solutions for the commercialization of intelligent vehicles based on the Autoware-defined Autonomous Driving Kit (ADK) running on multiple platforms.
As a founding member of the Autoware Foundation, Tier IV is dedicated to sharing technology with ecosystem partners for safe intelligent vehicles that will benefit all of society. Our aim is to empower individuals and organizations to overcome barriers of time and space to collectively make autonomous vehicles a reality.
Robot Taxi in Central Tokyo
Tier IV has been testing robot taxis with the goal of developing an optimized autonomous vehicle Reference Implementation, as well as a platform for service operation and management. We have been operating autonomous taxis in various environments, collecting / analyzing data, and applying knowledge towards optimization of AD system implementations evaluated relative to actual taxi driving. In 2020, we successfully deployed our first round of live testing with passengers on board in central Tokyo.
Logiee: A Fully Autonomous Logistics Vehicle
Logiee is a fully autonomous EV designed for transportation and logistics that can be operated indoors or outdoors. As logistics and facility management become increasingly large-scale nowadays, the shortage of manpower is becoming more prominent. Furthermore as the new trend continues, there is a growing need for remote, non-face-to-face, non-contact delivery that does not require human intervention. With Logiee, we will contribute to the early realization of new services that reduce delivery costs and do not involve human labor. The interchangeable top module enables various use cases such as delivery, sales, shopping, etc.
